Under warm blankets

Haiku Series

her kiss is so sweet

like the feeling of cool wind

blowing me away

the love takes me home

keeps me warm and in the past

i'm back on lime street

memories flood back

the cold gray days of lock down

sad but nostalgic

days of lessons taught

with broken bones and cold snow

the days of decay

like the buddhist monk

I sit and reflect on pain

to process the path

before I’d say

i’m no second round fighter

or one who stands tall

but just like the rain

and the warmth of muddy spring

the tired dog gets up

still some anxious days

but now copacetic

under warm blankets

she brought me back home

led my own repatriation

to reclaim what’s lost.
